The 67th edition of Pitti Bimbo, the largest international tradeshow for kid's fashion, closed positively at Florence's Fortezza da Basso.
During the three-day show, 572 collections were presented, and all fashion shows and events were filled to capacity.

Government calls emergency at Pompeii
|

The cabinet on Friday declared a year-long official state of emergency at the archaeological site of Pompeii because of ''the continuing state of neglect and degradation the site has been in now for a long time''.
Culture Minister Sandro Bondi said the cabinet will shortly appoint a special commissioner to resolve the emergency at the UNESCO World Heritage site.

Fugitive neofascist terrorist nabbed in Brazil

A fugitive member of the neofascist terrorist group NAR (Revolutionary Armed Nuclei) has been nabbed in Brazil after 26 years on the run.
Pierluigi Bragaglia, 48, was arrested in the seaside resort town of Ilhabela, north of Sao Paolo, where he was said to be the owner-operator of an inn.

HIV: Pisa's normale is on research team

The Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa is taking part in a European HIV research project.
They are now part of the ''Thinc'' research team, financed by the VII Programma Quadro, coordinated by Zeger Debyser of the University of Leuven.
The goal is to develop new pharmaceuticals against HIV that can treat AIDS all over the world.

Pope to visit Lourdes in September
|

Pope Benedict XVI will travel to France in September to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the shrine at Lourdes, the Vatican said Friday.
According to the Vatican's official programme, the pontiff will give 11 addresses during his four-day trip, which will begin in Paris on September 12.

Italy's soccer federation has reduced its squad of referees for Serie A and Serie B matches from 43 members to 39.
''Other European federations have already cut back their squads and we also thought it would be best to work with a smaller, more compact team,'' explained Pierluigi Collina, who is responsible for designating referees for the first and second division matches.
