Look at what the owners say … Hello, are you looking at the pictures of our house? Very good! Let me tell you how we fell in love with it 20 years ago! It’s an old farm house (more than 100 years old), where almost 20 farmers with their families lived and we know this because we met an old man who was born there. You can feel the stone walls telling stories of past times. In spring, with the awakening of nature, our fruit trees (cherries, plums) are covered in flowers and bees flutter happy, sucking nectar. In the Summer, it is a real joy to pick juicy cherries, plums and make sweet jams; later on the figs are ripe, which are delicious with a good Umbrian ham. In Autumn the garden is colored in yellow, red and brown and then slowly the plants prepare for their winter rest. And then there are nuts! In November we prepare for the olive harvest and it is a village festival with family and friends who help us picking. Going to the mill for our oil is an exciting experience. In the Winter there is a great Christmas spirit, and our house has a fabulous atmosphere, the fireplace is lit and we all sit around and tell stories. In our kitchen, we prepare pizzas and delicious cakes in our wood oven and eat around the large table. Let’s not forget the scenery that surrounds us that ranges from the valley to the surrounding hills. In the evening we watch the sun slowly drifting behing the Cetona mountain and shades of red and pink sunsets leave us breathless. You must be wondering, why do they want to sell? The answer is simple – family decisions and the desire to move closer to our daughter. We so hope we will sell it to people who will fall in love with it like we did. P.S. This is our recipe for Cherry jam: 2kg of cherries without pips, 1 kg of sugar, lemon peel, a cinnamon stick, the juice of one lemon. Boil the fruit until the volume is reduced by half, add the lemon zest, juice, cinnamon and sugar. You mix and boil until, by putting a small amount on a saucer, you find that it congeals immediately. Fill your glass jars. When the jam cools, the jars close hermetically when boiled in a pot of water for 40 minutes. After boiling the jars, leave them to cool in the same pot.
