The property is located about 7km away from the historical centre of Pitigliano. Pitigliano is a typical village of the Maremma area, and is unique for being built from tufo rock, making it one of the most interesting of all the tufo places. Pitigliano’s stands on a plateau formed by the rivers Lente, Meleta and Prochio and is one of the most beautiful historic centres in Tuscany and indeed Italy. It has several interesting artistic attractions from the Middle Ages to the eighteenth century. The nearby Etruscan necropolis as well as the medieval walled settlements came under the ownership of the Aldobrandeschi family; then at the end of the thirteenth century, the Orsini’s took over the centre when it became the capital of the county.
