A charming detached, characterful stone cottage in a small hamlet near to the 11th century town of Crecchio. Certified as one of the most beautiful villages in Italy, with its narrow cobbled streets, and stone clad houses, Crecchio is renowned for its castle where King Umberto II spent his last night in Italy after being exiled.

Casa Allegra is a short distance from Crecchio, and being in the centre of the hamlet, was used as a gathering place for the neighbours who would come and dance the night away after a long day working in the fields. It’s most suited to those who want to immerse themselves in an authentic Italian community, with an informal and relaxed atmosphere. Only 40 minutes from Pescara airport and 10 minutes to the nearest motorway, it has been designed as a lock-up and go, and would be ideal as a holiday home, rental investment or permanent residence.

The rustic wooden entrance doors open into a large, airy, living, dining and kitchen area. With beautiful flagstone tiles, beamed ceilings, and a traditional brickwork kitchen, complete with original pizza oven, the approximate 50sqm area, with its high ceilings, and patio doors leading out to the 60sqm terrace provides ample space for entertaining.

The bespoke wood and iron-work staircase, set against the thick stone walls, is a focal point on all three levels. The spacious first floor landing leads to a single bedroom with original floor tiles, basin, and countryside views from the Juliet balcony. A set of doors from the landing leads to a bright dual aspect double bedroom with a Juliette balcony and roll top bath. The shower room next door has been tastefully designed, making the most of the exposed stone.

The staircase continues to the second floor, which is a converted attic. It is open plan and currently used as a bedroom and relax area. There is an a bathroom, plus balcony with a sea view while to the front, the Juliet balcony has a lovely mountain view.

The open aspect of the house, with its large windows and different views, gives a feeling of being immersed in the countryside, without the isolation.

A council-owned narrow strip separates the house from the summer space next door, complete with swimming pool, gazebo, covered kitchen area and private parking.
