Exceptional opportunity to restore a beautiful stone house set in the most immaculate village location on a Tuscan hilltop within a development where there is access to swimming pool.
Set in a historical hamlet in the rolling hills of central Tuscany, this property is now ready to restore. Many of the properties in the hamlet have already been transformed and there is a thriving community with private owners and holiday makers. A swimming pool is already in operation and this property benefits from access to this facility.
There are additional properties in the same hamlet which also offer restoration potential, by separate negotiation.
The area is Val di Cecina and this hilltop is immediately opposite the ancient village of Volterra, surrounded by the rolling hills of Tuscany, punctuated by tall cypress trees. Val di Cecina is a green valley. Very popular are the thriving copper mine caves that made this area very prosperous in the past. The mine has now been converted into a fascinating museum for visitors. The countryside extends from the mountains to the east, through the vineyards terraced on the low hills and down to the Mediterranean scrub with pine woods and brooms to the west. The golden hills are planted with orchards, vineyards and olive groves. Caught in a time warp, entering the village is like stepping back to where time stands still.
Val di Cecina is the place to be for nature enthusiasts: from the village, you can follow a variety of different nature trails that take you through enchanting historic sites, such as a bridge crossing the torrent or scenic vista points offering views of the Val di Cornia and the Gulf of Piombino. The thermal baths of Bagnone, a Hellenistic structure which dates from the 3rd century BC, reopened to the public after undergoing archeological digs. Here, you’ll find thermal waters flowing between 40° and 70° celsius.
