The property is set between the medieval walled town of Fivizzano (approx. 10 minutes by car), and the scattered mountain town of Comano (approx. 15 minutes). Fivizzano, often referred to as the ‘Florence of Lunigiana’, is a medieval walled town both beautiful and practical with supermarkets, restaurants and coffee bars. The bustling town hosts many cultural events over the summer with concerts in the piazza, re-enactments of medieval parades, and a popular food festival. There is a hospital, schools and a selection of shops in the town. Comano is a centre for walking, horse riding and mountain biking, with amenities including a pharmacy, post office, bakery, tourist information centre, two family-run bar-restaurants and a pizzeria.
Lunigiana is a magical part of Tuscany. The rolling landscape is liberally sprinkled with castles of Medici or Malaspina vintage and for lovers of the coast the spectacular Ligurian coastline is close by. The golden sandy beaches around Lerici and the pebble coves of the Cinque Terre are ideal for swimming and sailing in the summer. The area is criss-crossed with marked footpaths for walks to the hills and mountains. The airports of Pisa, Parma and Genova are all just over an hour away.
