Lovely, spacious house set in an historical village next to an impressive Malaspina castle. The village is set on a hilltop and accessed on a good road which meanders climbs the olive groves. Wonderful views.
A private gated entrance leads onto a pleasant terrace, where it is possible to eat outside in the sunshine, and there are doors into the large living room with kitchen area. This is a large open space which is light and airy and there is a fireplace. The two bedrooms are both large and there is a bathroom with bath.
Stairs lead up to two large attic rooms with skylights and it is this area which offers the possibility, subject to permissions, of creating a spectacular roof terrace which would have amazing views of the valley below. Underneath the main accommodation there are three large cantina (store rooms) which could also provide additional possibilities for a games room, study areas or a cinema room. The property is connected to main services and has central heating. A great property with potential.
The village of Bastia is set on a hill and dominated by a castle with four round towers. There are 360 degree views over the countryside and mountains. Bastia is reached just a short drive through the olive groves from the town of Licciana Nardi.
Licciana Nardi in Lunigiana is a town in the Taverone valley with 13th century pedestrian street flanked with local shops. Central in the town is the Piazza del Municipio which hosts the 16th century Malaspina castle and many festivals such as the Chestnut Festival in the autumn. The castle is linked to the baroque church by a covered bridge so that the nobles had direct access to prayer and dealings with the local priest. There are also a bank, schools, restaurants and medical facilities. The nearby village of Monti has a castle on the hill above and offers a good selection of amenities. Lunigiana is a magical part of Tuscany. The rolling landscape is liberally sprinkled with castles of Medici or Malaspina vintage and for lovers of the coast the spectacular Ligurian coastline is close by. The golden sandy beaches around Lerici and the pebble coves of the Cinque Terre are ideal for swimming and sailing in the summer. The area is criss-crossed with marked footpaths for walks to the hills and mountains. The airports of Pisa, Parma and Genova are all just over an hour away.
