On the road leading to the castle with access from the village lane, very well presented apartment (69 sqm) on the first floor of an ancient building, completely renovated. The entrance is into the bright living area with two large windows overlooking the hills of Val di Cecina, and the modern kitchen is open to this living area, two bedrooms and a bathroom. The renovation is recent and has retained all the historical characteristics of the building: there are beams and bricks in the ceilings and an excellent wooden floor. Central heating with very low cost geothermic energy.
On the ground floor, entering from the common entrance, there is a small room with a window that is used as a laundry. While exiting the door you reach a cellar (18 sqm) which is used as a storage for bicycles. The free car park is located 50 meters away.
Good location in a pretty Tuscan village where there are coffee bars, restaurants and some local shops. Ideal for the lovely walking trails and all the natural and cultural attractions that are in the surroundings and for the proximity to the sea.
In a pretty area, close to the Riserva Naturale di Caselli a beautiful area of woodland, streams and waterfalls which makes for some great trekking: (https://www.visittuscany.com/en/attractions/monterufoli-caselli-nature-reserve/). The area is know for the abundant geothermic energy, and, indeed, a geothermal plant can be seen in the distance from the property. This uses steam which comes from the natural reservoirs of hot water below the earth’s surface, as a perfect form of sustainable, renewable green energy with zero emission pollution. It is possible to take guided trails to see the steam emerging naturally from the underground on the rocky outcrops in the area.
There are many Tuscan hilltop village scattered in the area. Sasso Pisano nearby is a beautiful, historical village in the region of Castelnuovo Val di Cecina. In the past this castle and the ancient village have been an important part of Tuscan history, and it sits in a dominant position overlooking the valley. There is a restaurant and bar in the village and there are many village festivals such as the Prugnolo mushroom festival, the Sasserino olive oil festival and the festival of San Bartolomeo. A particular feature of the village is the fabulous bathing and health spa powered by the hot springs of the area which has now been restored to provide a centre for well being with hydromassage and there is even a ‘putizza’ with jets of hot water and mud treatments. There are also tennis courts and a campers area. (http://www.biolagosassopisano.it)
