A small village set around the “Pieve”, a rural baptistery church built in 990 AD on a location dating back to the early Roman period. The first documented correspondence on the Pieve di Comunaglia dates back to 1050. The village has been restored with total respect for the use of local materials, but also with the firm conviction that alternative energy must be the future of a civilized world. With this in mind, the entire village has a biomass central heating system, photovoltaic panels and state-of-the-art materials, including fibre optics and centralised satellite connection.
