Badia Petroia is located in north-western Umbria, on the border with Tuscany, just 15 kilometres from Città di Castello. Badia Petroia’s history dates back to 1050 AD and has retained its original character over the years. With around 60 inhabitants, the village still exudes the atmosphere of days gone by. On warm summer evenings, residents gather on the village square to chat and barbecue. There is no shortage of nature and culture. Lovers of good food and wine will find what they are looking for here. The surrounding hills are ideal for beautiful nature walks. Badia Petroia is also known for its Romanesque Benedictine abbey from the 10th century.
