Among the most iconic properties in the Lake Trasimeno we can undoubtedly consider the millennia-old ruins of this Castle. On the top of a small hill, surrounded by olive trees, woods and with stunning views of Lake Trasimeno, stands an ancient tower built in the Middle Ages on the ruins of a church. The tower has a base of about 14 x 7.5 m and originally a height of at least three stories. Of fine workmanship is the cistern for collecting rainwater still standing in the square in front of the tower. 250 m downstream from the castle we find five farmhouses. The largest one, on two levels, has been renovated in the rough according to the typical local style and has an area of about 333 square meters. Three other farmhouses are also restored to the rough and total about 280 sqm. The last building, 35 sqm and expandable, has not been renovated for the time being and could be demolished and moved, in an even more panoramic and private position, within 50 m of the largest farmhouse. The complex is therefore composed of 6 buildings, which are surrounded by 12 ha of land with ancient olive trees. Part of the property additional 2 ha of arable land at the edge of the Lake and distant about 1 km from the tower.
The Castle is located on the top of a small hill, about 200 m above the level of the Lake. It is positioned on an ancient crossroads that in the past connected Perugia to Arezzo. From here it is possible to admire Lake Trasimeno and all the hills surrounding it. The center of Passignano can be reached in 5 minutes by car, while Perugia and Castiglione del Lago are 20 minutes away. Florence, Rome and Ancona can be reached in about 1h30 minutes. Perugia Airport is about 40 minutes away. In 2h30m you can reach Fiumicino or Pisa Airport.
