Castle, originally a fortress, built between the 9th and 11th centuries, imposing and picturesque, is situated on a dominant hill overlooking the town. The enclosing wall, keep, and chapel date back to the 10th century; towers, walls, and some rooms were built between the 11th and 15th centuries. In 1981, it was declared a national monument. Easily accessible, it is considered one of the world’s most scenic and fairy-tale castles. Within the walls, we can admire the splendid Noble Courtyard, the suggestive Well of Mysteries, and the lush Rose Garden, along with rooms and halls that immerse us in history. The castle’s structure is statically in excellent condition and rests on a rocky spur, making it practically earthquake-resistant. Today it is used for accommodation, with 28 rooms, more of which could be created, including some suites, super suites, and standard rooms. Special attention has been paid to the bathrooms and the furnishings of both the rooms and the restaurant and conference center. Due to the rooms’ beauty, atmosphere, and spaciousness of the spaces, it is highly sought after for weddings and events. Among other things, the castle has approximately 250 elegant, handcrafted Savonarola chairs, making the environment in which they are placed truly unique. The prestige and value of the castle have been enhanced by the quality and accuracy of the restoration, which pays attention to every detail. The castle is perfectly heated in every room and has air conditioning in most of the rooms. The conference center, located on the noble floor of the castle, offers a unique setting for meetings and conferences and can accommodate up to 400 people, in rooms with capacities ranging from 10 to 150 seats. The museum housed inside the castle, and owned by the castle itself, is protected due to the importance of the artifacts on display.
