On top of a hill in the countryside between the fortress of Radicofani and the medieval hamlet of Contignano, there is this farm-house to be rebuilt. The frame is that of the natural park of Val d’Orcia (heritage of the UNESCO), which can be admired in all its splendour from the dominant position of this property. The main house consists of a typical “Valdorciano” farmhouse, in a state of ruin, where on the ground floor there were stables, cellars, warehouses, and on the first floor what was the living space. The structure, at least the part not collapsed, is in load-bearing masonry of stone and exposed brick, wooden floors with beams, joists and interposed terracotta bricks, sloping pitched roof and roofing in brick tiles. The property includes an agricultural annex of about 120sqm, entirely to be reconstructed, in a rectangular shape and a large plot of land of 1.5 Ha. Water and electricity must be brought to the property with costs to be paid by the buyer from about 1km.
The property can be reached from the old Roman road SS2 Cassia which in Val d’Orcia climbs towards Radicofani. To get there, you have to cover about 2 km of dirt road partially to be rearranged. The highway is approximately 20 km away. The nearest airports are that of Rome at a couple of hours by car and Perugia at about an hour. The property is located a few kilometres from all the spa towns of Bagno Vignoni, Bagni San Filippo, San Casciano and Chianciano Terme. Same distances for the art cities of Pienza and Montepulciano.
