This beautiful townhouse, free on all four sides, is located in the charming village of Contignano, right in the centre of the Natural Park as well as a UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Val d’Orcia. The property, which occupies an entire building within the medieval walls of the town, has been finely restored by reusing the typical materials of these areas, from the original Tuscan terracotta flooring to the elegantly restored typical ceiling joists. It is arranged on three floors, with an intelligent distribution of spaces that ensure the rightful freedom and privacy to those who live there, with large and bright rooms thanks to the many windows on all sides of the building. It is accessed from the alley that starts from the characteristic square, also visible from some windows of the house. The stairs symmetrically separate the living area characterized by a beautiful fireplace placed in the centre of the room, and the large kitchen opening onto the dining room. On the first floor we have a large suite with a very spacious bathroom and double bathtub, and large windows on all sides, plus two other double bedrooms, both with bathrooms and views over the characteristic tiled roofs of the village and enchanting glimpses of the surrounding countryside. Going down to the lower floor we find a large basement, where an apartment has been created with a small kitchen and a sleeping area with another bathroom. Two large arched French windows lead to the private garden of about 70sqm adorned with flowers and plants, which is very rare in the typical historic centres of our Tuscany. About 50m from the house there is a public swimming pool with a breath-taking view over the whole Val d’Orcia.
The medieval village of Contignano is located in the heart of the Val d’Orcia, entirely surrounded by the Tuscan countryside, in a landscape of rare beauty. The hinterland offers the food and wine itineraries typical of these areas from the characteristic shops where you can buy wines and cheeses to exclusive restaurants and wine bars with increasingly sophisticated menus and wine lists. The art towns of Pienza and Montepulcaino are within 30km, as well as the spa towns of Bagno Vignoni, San Casciano and Chianciano Terme. It can be easily reached from both North and South as the A1 highway that is about 20km away, Rome and Florence are less than 2 hours driving. The nearest train station, about 25 minutes by car, is in Chiusi, with local or fast trains to most important Italian destinations.
